reserving public cabins
1 Attachment(s)
i wasn't sure which forum to put this in and after thinking about it for a while survival prep seemed appropriate as i figure most of you on here are kinda outdoorsy...
anyway i'm planning a trip this week and reserving some public use cabins to stay in overnight on a 40 mile hike/mountain bike trip, not sure yet if we're going to go shoe leather express or wheels... there are hundreds of public use (govt. owned) cabins in my state alaska, that are available to rent and the price is really fair...usually about 35 to 45 bucks a night but always way off the road system. some are free, first come, first served....granted its just a roof with a wood stove and no amenities, but its safe and warm and a nice break from tent camping. they are so popular you need to reserve 6 months in advance which is what i'm doing this week. i'm reserving 5 different cabins to stay in over the summer on different trips and maybe there are recreational places in your state that you would be interested in as well ? this is the website to look over... http://www.recreation.gov/ not bad for 35 bucks, includes rowboat...i'll be hanging my hat here next july... .............. |
Re: reserving public cabins
Any properties like this that the government wants to sell to private parties?
|
Re: reserving public cabins
i don't know about the government, usually they are into collecting property not selling it...
but there is a lot of pristine remote private property for sale in alaska... |
Re: reserving public cabins
I stepped in the toes and was with the last Mountain Men still alive in alaska and wouldnt step foot in one of those whorehouses, or own a Mossberg either.
